Monarca 2024-2025

Be part of the Monarca 24'-25' Fellowship

The Carolina Migrant Network is accepting applications for our Monarca Fellowship program. This fellowship is designed to help folks new to organizing and activism develop the skills and strategies that will allow them to build collective campaigns and contribute to existing organizing efforts in the state of North Carolina (and Charlotte!). This fellowship is open to all, and is particularly intended for those who have little to no organizing experience.

About CMN

Carolina Migrant Network’s (CMN) core mission is to build and sustain services for people targeted by the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration (DHS). We provide compassionate and competent pro-bono legal representation. We organize with communities to disrupt the deportation pipeline/ system. We envision a world of empowered, self-determined, organized communities, free from the fear of deportation and family separation.

Monarca 24'-25'

The Monarca Fellowship is more than just a training program—our goal is to create a community of like-minded young people that will build deep relationships with each other to face the challenges ahead. If you want to expand your knowledge on popular political education, join a fellowship that shares passion for their community, bolster your career, and/or become a leader on issues that matter to you, the Monarca Fellowship is for you.

We will be working with approximately five young people from the CLT area in order to develop their skills as organizers and ultimately develop a campaign plan to work as the advocacy wing of the Carolina Migrant Network. The selected young people will participate in a six-month academy with biweekly sessions where they will learn about organizing history, base-building and organizing methodologies, and develop and execute a campaign during the 2025 Spring GOTV season.

All sessions take place on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm ET in-person (we may switch to Zoom if there are public health concerns at any given point). Fellows will be compensated a total of $1,200.00 for their participation in the fellowship.
